Hey everyone! It’s been a productive time for me, balancing gamedev and some tech improvements. I wanted to share a quick update on what I’ve been up to, what I’m working on, and where I’m headed next.

Game Development: Moving to Godot

As some of you know, I’ve been working on a game project that I initially started with a friend. Now, I’ve decided to simplify the project and move it over to the Godot engine. Godot is open source, which aligns well with my values, and it’ll make developing a minimum viable product (MVP) much smoother. I’m aiming to release a small demo on platforms like itch.io and share my journey on Discord. It’ll be a great way to get feedback early on and keep things moving.

Tech Infrastructure & Workflow Improvements

To streamline file transfers between my Mac and Pop!_OS desktop, I set up a file server with custom Python and shell scripts. I also added an endpoint with ClamAV antivirus to scan for any changes, keeping the files secure. This is still work in progress, but the goal here is to move files between devices smoothly without worrying about security.

Boosting Website Speed

My website was loading a bit slowly, so I implemented a caching system that crawls through the site to improve load times. The speed boost has been noticeable, and it’s a huge improvement for anyone visiting the site to see my updates and projects.

What’s Next

My main focus now is creating a simple demo for my game in Godot. I’ll keep sharing updates on Discord, itch.io, and YouTube to engage with everyone following along. I’m also considering sharing some of the backend scripts and tools I’ve built in case other developers find them useful.

There’s a lot to tackle, but I’m excited to push forward with gamedev and tech upgrades. Thanks for following along, and feel free to drop any ideas or feedback my way!

Until next time.
